Planning - Title And Connotations

From our brainstorm of ideas for film names we decided to use the title 'The Final Bell'

The reason we chose this title was because we feel it relates to our film in many ways. One of these ways was the bell. Schools commonly have a bell that sounds for lessons, lunch and many other reason, therefore this relates to a school. The word bell is also associated with being alarming as bells are sometimes used in an alarming manor such as a fire bell or lockdown bell.

Another reason we used the title 'The Final Bell' is because our film is about a school shooting and consequently about death, this is why we used final as it signifies the end of something, in our case it means the final time they will hear the school bell.

Planning - Use of social media to plan of film

We used YouTube in order to upload our video as it is an easy way to share it on our blogs and also sharing it on Facebook in order to get feedback. We decided to use YouTube as it is the largest video sharing site therefore this gives us the best chance of reaching a wider audience. Another feature we have used on YouTube is being able to control who sees the video. There are 3 different options;

 

 

 

Public - Anyone can watch the video

Unlisted - Only people with the URL can watch the video.

Private - Only I (the person who uploaded it) can watch the video

 

These options allowed us to control when we wanted the video to be released and commented on.

We also used Facebook Messenger as a way of communication between the members within our group.This was a good way to communicate as we set up a group chat in which everyone can easily send a message to the rest of the group and see when everyone has seen it. This was very useful when planning filming shoots etc.
 

Planning - Fonts And Titles

In order to decide what font to use I created a word document and tried a few of my favourite fonts out. Then I narrowed it down between impact and Capture it. They both had their pros and cons as listed below;

Magazine first draft

Planning - Change of actor

 Initially we planned and started filming with a professional actor and friend of mine, Fraser Smalley. Fraser was able to make the first shoot however, due to paid acting roles and location changes with these roles, unfortunately Fraser was unable to complete filming with us. This was a hard decision for him to make but we appreciate his other commitments. This impacted the group quite hard as we now had no actor for our film. Joe Cleveland, a member of the group volunteered to step up and take the role over from Fraser. This worked well as Fraser and Joe are both of similar heights and builds meaning the costume and storyboard didn't have to change at all.

As a group we sat down and tried to think of names for our film. We did this through the use of a Mind map/Brainstorm.

Music

Our music was specially created for our trailer by Ben Stacey an A-Level Music Technology student at our school who is also a very good friend to me. He made the music with access to the storyboard and our inputs.
